Social Media Advertising: The Dos and Don’ts

It is no secret that social media has taken over the world. There are 4.70 billion active users of social media, that’s roughly 59% of the entire world population!

In a matter of a few short years, social media has gone from being a relatively new and unexplored territory to being an integral part of our everyday lives. We use social media to stay connected with our friends and family, to catch up on the latest news, do our shopping, and to share our thoughts and opinions on the world around us.

As social media has become more and more commonplace, businesses have started to take notice and realize the potential that social media has for promoting their products and services. In fact, it has become a business-critical error to ignore social media when it comes to promoting your business.

Advertising on social media is an effective and proven way to reach out to potential customers and to promote your business. However, there are a few dos and don’ts that you should keep in mind when creating your social media advertising strategy.

Do:

1. Do your research

Before you start creating your social media ads, it is important to do your research and to understand your target audience. Who are you trying to reach with your ads? What are their interests? What social media platforms do they use? Answering these questions will help you create more effective and targeted ads.

2. Keep it simple

Your social media ads should be simple and to the point. Don’t try to cram too much information into a small space. The goal of your ad should be to grab the attention of your target audience and to get them interested in what you have to offer.

3. Use high-quality images

The images that you use in your social media ads should be high quality and eye-catching. Poor quality images will reflect badly on your business and will not do a good job of promoting your products or services.

4. Use effective call-to-actions

Your social media ads should have a call-to-action that encourages your target audience to take the next step. Whether you want them to click through to your website or to like your page, your call-to-action should be clear and effective.

5. Monitor your results

Once you have launched your social media advertising campaign, it is important to monitor your results and to see how your ads are performing. Are people clicking on your ads? Are they taking the desired action? If not, you may need to make some adjustments to your campaign.

Don’t:

1. Don’t be pushy

Your social media ads should not be pushy. No one likes to be bombarded with ads, and if your ads are too “in your face”, you will not get that all important click through from your prospective audience.

2. Don’t use low-quality images

As we mentioned before, the images that you use in your social media ads should be high quality. Low-quality images will make your business look unprofessional and will not do a good job of promoting your products or services.

3.Don’t be boring

Your social media ads should be creative and interesting. If your ads are boring, people will likely tune them out. Digital adverts can be easily turned off just by hiding the ad or clicking that close button. Keep your audience’s attention so they click through to our business page or website.
